Review of Salone del Mobile 2022
After a long wait, it was finally here again. From June 7 to 12, Milan was all about Salone del Mobile. We would like to take you through the leading developments of MDF Italia, Acerbis, Paola Lenti, Davide Groppi and ICF as well as the trends we noticed at the fair.
To begin with, the combined forces between fashion and design is something that struck us right away. The essential design of MDF Italia met the outstanding craftsmanship of Jacob Cohën in the Neil Denim, the new denim edition of the Neil chair by Jean Marie Massaud. Besides being on display at MDF Italia's booth, we also viewed this Neil Denim with great enthusiasm in Milan's fashion center in Jacob Cöhen's shop window on the via Della Spiga.
In addition, we saw a creative collaboration between Ferragamo and Acerbis on the occasion of Salone del Mobile. This collaboration is celebrated in part with a rainbow-like take on the historic Med chair by Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis. The signature design is now executed in multicolored suede to recall the iconic Rainbow women's shoe created by Salvatore Ferragamo for Judy Garland in 1938. We viewed both in the windows of the Salvatore Ferragamo boutique on Via Monte Napoleone where Nanda Vigo's Storet cabinet was also on display.
Then there is the new collection Metamorfosi from Paola Lenti, designed by Brazilian designers and brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana. The Campana brothers are known for the "Favela chair" and the "Bolotas," among others. If it does not immediately mean anything to you, it is worth looking it up.
Paola Lenti's new unique creations "Metamorfosi" were born entirely from a conversation about reusing production remnants. The result is a special edition of six high-profile pieces in which the circular power not only ensures environmentally responsible results, but also social awareness. That it has become a socially powerful, gallery-like collection is evidenced by all the rave reviews from the global press.
In addition to the above developments, Paola Lenti's show garden was again very inspiring. Vincent van Duysen has designed a table for Paola Lenti. Where the Portofino series was already a success, there is now Suzanne. This table has a very refined look due to the rounded wooden thermo-treated top. In addition 'Jardìn' by Clara Porset (1895-1981), one of the new collections shown for the first time that we absolutely love. It is a 1950s design, timeless, with beautiful lines, materialization upgraded to Paola Lenti's standards.
Davide Groppi 'gave a wonderful presentation in their own showroom in the center of Milan called "One More Light. It was a presentation of their most essential works, with novelties and surprising products. Among them, standing out was the Soft ChainDelier. A new lighting element for the ChainDelier model. An intense yet soft light for creating infinite compositions above tables or along walls. ChainDelier is an open and modular design thanks to the gold-plated links which together result in a special conductive chain allowing lighting modules of diffused light and accent light to be combined wirelessly.
The name "One More Light" refers to "FM" and is reminiscent of the radio antenna which we used to slide in and out. Meanwhile, the antenna is hard to find in our daily lives. But now available again in the form of a beautiful lighting element next to the bed, or a light that gives a nice accent to a valued element in the interior.
At Salone del Mobile 2022 had MDF Italia a beautiful booth designed by the Israeli studio Pitsou Kedem. A look that refers to the new concept of the beautiful showroom in Mariano Comense, but also a booth that leads your visit on a visual-sensory path to discover the new products. The atmosphere and design of the interior, by the creative duo Meda-Quincoces, evokes a sophisticated and timeless imagery, also thanks to the styling of the Milanese duo Cameranesi Pompili.
The power of minimalism is back, pure materials, clean light lines, monochromatic finishes, and a wide choice of sizes to maintain tranquility in the interior and exterior. Subtle spectacle gives greater appreciation.
